To slow this process, keep the cross in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, which can cause premature fading and brittleness. If you wish to keep the palm green for as long as possible, some people lightly mist them with water or keep them in a sealed bag in the refrigerator until they are ready to be displayed. Once dried, the crosses become delicate, so handle them gently to avoid snapping the fronds.
